Holiday Gift Ideas

The holidays are upon us again, and this year if you are looking for a gift that is both unique and meaningful – give the gift of art.  Here are a few ideas that may help spark some gift ideas of your own for family and friends:

1.  Bring An Old Photo Back to Life!

Have Your Old Photo or Photos restored.  Many of us have old photos that are peeling and fading, or just laying around in boxes collecting dust.  These may be childhood photos, beloved family pets, Grandparents or Great Grandparents; or even photos of places that bring back a special memory from the past.  Surprise a family member or friend by having a Photo Restored and/or Enlarged and Printed on Canvas or Fine Art Paper.  At Sedona Giclee Studios we provide quality Photo Restoration Services. We can scan your photos, or if you have digital images already, you can Upload them directly to our site.

2.  Create A Collage

Create, or have us create a collage of your special photographs. Your collage can be printed on canvas and stretched on bars – ready to hang on the wall.  It can also be printed on one of our many fine art papers and come ready to frame. Photos can be enlarged, reduced, made black and white or sepia, touched up, etc. Font can also be added to your collage, such as:  the names of individuals in your photos, inspirational quotes, a memorable statement, or a special poem.  We can also create any color or pattern background.

3.  Gift An Amazing & Affordable Piece of Art

Is someone you know a wine lover?  Loves Marilyn Monroe?  Looking for Inspiration? Enjoys Jazz or Beautiful Scenery?  We have many images and art styles in our Art Studio Prints online art gallery.  Art prints can be ordered in many sizes on canvas or on fine art paper.  Images can also be custom ordered by contacting us and letting us know what size you are looking for and on what type of medium. Browse our online art gallery today and support local artists!

4.  The Gift of Giclee

The Giclee process can be beneficial to an artist for several reasons.  An artist not only puts time into a painting, but also their heart and soul.  Many artists take months or sometimes years to complete a painting. It can be very difficult to part with a piece of work that they have become so attached to.  The giclee process allows the artist to reproduce their art and sell the image, while still keeping either the original or the reproduction for themselves.  Giclee reproductions, also allow the artist to sell prints of their work in many sizes and on various mediums.  At Sedona Giclee Studios, we work with the artists to produce high quality reproductions of their work.  If you have a friend or family member who is an artist, our Giclee Services can be a wonderful gift. We offer Sedona Giclee Studios Gift Certificates for all of our scanning and printing services. For more information please Contact Us.

If you are looking for unique gifts this year, hopefully we have sparked a few ideas.

Happy Shopping & Happy Holidays!

Comics – Are They a Lost Art?

Recently I have been reading the biography of Charles Schulz, which has had me thinking quite a bit about the art of comics, and what their future is.

Comics inspired me to pursue art.  When I was growing up, I would read the comics in the newspaper every day, and of course looked forward to the super edition on Sundays in full color.  “Peanuts”“Blondie”, “Fred Basset”, “B.C”, “Family Circus”, “Hagar the Horrible” – these were some of my favorites.  I recall skipping some of the more serious strips like“Prince Valiant”, and “Mary Worth”, but everybody has their own opinion.

When I was a kid, I wrote a fan letter to Charles Schulz.  I would spend hours creating the comic strip boxes on paper, desperately trying to create characters that would occupy the boxes and have them “come to life” as the great comic artists had done.

To me, these were some of the most amazing artists in the world to have the ability to create these drawings and attribute to them such unique characteristics, that the animated characters take on a persona of their own and are remembered for generations.

So what is the future of comics?

With more and more people now reading the news online, are their kids also reading the comics online?  Are characters today mainly created to bypass print and go directly to film or television animation?  Will we still be able to read those comic balloons above the characters’ heads and imagine what they sound like, or will this be a thing of the past?

I wonder if  new comics on the internet could ever have the same impact as those in newsprint.  It may be an age thing, but I have no patience in my spare time to read comic strips on the computer; yet the other day I went through a box of old books from when I was a kid and found “But We Love You Charlie Brown”.  I read strip after strip having to finally force myself to put it down.

Comics may not be an art that we get to deal with much at Sedona Giclee Studios, however it is an art worth talking about.  Comics have inspired so many.  I only hope that an artist out there is creating that special character … one that generation after generation will talk about and love.

Art Gallery

Sedona Arizona, with its beautiful and famous red rocks has become home to some of the worlds finest art galleries. Since millions of visitors flock to Sedona every year to experience the gallery scene, what better to offer than an online art gallery which displays the artwork of our incredible Sedona artists year round.  Contrary to popular belief, Sedona artists are very diverse in their paintings and photographs.  In other words, they don’t only paint and photograph Cathedral Rock.  In fact, the style of art in Sedona has broadened it seems more than ever.

Some of the categories displayed in our art gallery include:  Pop Art, Contemporary Art, Botanical Art or Floral Art, Spiritual Art, Native American Art, Photography and Retro Art.  Categories are also broken down in subjects such as Food, Animals and People. We continue to add new art categories as needed.  Mandala art is a category that has recently been added.  This style of art can also fall under the category of spiritual.  Although Mandalas have been around for thousands of years, they seem to be increasingly popular among artists today.  For more information on Mandalas, please check out our article, “What is a Mandala”.  Two of our Mandala artists are Kathy Klein and David Cosmo.

For those of you who are interested in prints of the beautiful red rocks, we of course do have a specific category titled “Sedona Art”.   The category is diverse, with various styles of paintings and photographs of sites of Oak Creek Canyon as well as the all too famous yet beautiful Cathedral Rock.

Since we are an art reproduction studio and work directly with our artists, we like to ensure the highest quality prints available for purchase on canvas and archival fine art paper.  We can also offer custom size prints of all our images to suit a particular wall space if needed.  Canvas prints can be shipped stretched or not stretched.

We believe in helping our artists market their work.  Our online artist gallery provides exposure for those artists who do not have a website, and additional exposure for those who do.

At Sedona Giclee Studios and Art Studio Prints, we feel privileged to work with each talented and unique artist. Our goal is to embrace the personality and passion that is present in each work of art and share it with the world through our online art gallery.  Stay tuned for more fabulous art and we hope you enjoy!
